Could I have Sleep Apnea?

Question by <3<3XOXO<3<3: Could I have Sleep Apnea?
I am a 14 year old female, and I have sleep problems.
Not in falling asleep, it’s not Insomnia.
I’ve woken up in the night coughing, and I’ve heard that can be symptom.
I’m always fatigued in the day.
I have been told I am very loud at night, snoring, breathing and talking.
Can Sleep Apnea develop, or is it something you are born with? Is there treatment?
Any info is much appreciated.

Sleep apnea can start at any point in a person’s life.
You might have sleep apnea. You might not. Start with your family physician to look into the fatigue. If no medical problem can be found, get your parents to push for referral for a sleep test. I have permanent heart damage from years of untreated sleep apnea .. it has left me partially disabled, but at least it didn’t kill me (my sleep test showed 32 episodes an hour).

If you have sleep apnea, you sleep with a mask, connected to a hose, connected to a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine that blows a breeze into the mask to keep your airway open, to keep it from closing up.
